Transabdominal Ultrasound

Trans-abdominal ultrasound examination means that the ultrasound transducer is placed on your abdomen, in order to visualise your

uterus and ovaries through your abdominal wall. To get good views, we put some gel on your skin to improve the contact.

Sometimes it is better to have a full bladder, as the fluid in the bladder acts like a "window" to the structures below it.

If you are asked to have a full bladder, it does not need to be busting. Usually, drinking 2 glasses of water 40 minutes

or so before the examination is enough.
